Communities For Health Initiative Fund

Heathly Town

In April 2009 the Communities for Health Initiative Fund was created to give community and voluntary groups in Middlesbrough assistance to run projects aimed at making more local people more active or encourage healthy eating choices.

Community and voluntary groups in Middlesbrough have been able to bid for a share of the Communities for Health Initiative Fund, with a maximum amount of £5000 per project.

The scheme is part of Middlesbrough's Healthy programme that is seeing £9million of investment into improving the town's health through schemes designed to encourage healthy diets and taking more exercise.

Since its launch, the scheme has attracted a large number of applications for a variety of health improvement projects. 36 projects were approved and awarded a Communities for Health Initiatives Grant.

The success of the scheme means that funds are no longer available. Details of the projects that have been supported are available at www.borohealthytown.com

We would like to thank all associations that have taken an interest in the scheme and for their work in helping to make middlesbrough a healthy town.
