What is Quest
Quest is the voluntary and community organisations (VCO) database for Middlesbrough. It gives you contact names and details for all kinds of voluntary and community organisations throughout Middlesbrough. The organisations cover all kinds of activities and services for people of all ages: hobbies, sport, health, support etc.

How to search
Searching is easy. Click on the logo above to enter Quest. Just enter a word or words into the keyword search box or choose a subject from the dropdown list.

Ways to get your organisation listed on Quest

• Complete the on-line form
• Download the attached form and print it off (please see 'Downloads' to the right of the screen)
• Pick up a printed copy from your local Middlesbrough Library or Middlesbrough Voluntary & Development Agency (MVDA)

How do I know if my organisation can be included
Organisation or groups can be listed if they are geographically based in Middlesbrough. National organisations are included if there is a local branch or contact.

Organisations are/will be included, if they:

• Are independent in that they determine their own existence, constitution, objectives, and are not governed or constituted by some other structure or organisation;
• Are volunteer controlled in that their management committee members/board of directors/trustees derive no financial benefit from these positions and all surpluses are re-invested rather than distributed;
• Are accountable to their membership with a set of rules (or constitution) that cover decision-making and actions;
• Create a public benefit of a social, environmental and/or economic nature in the interests of the common good.

Information is not included about commercial organisations or any that may be unlawful,

How are personal details used ?
All details are held under the Data Protection Act of 1998. Only those personal details are included on the database which the individual has agreed to. Only those details which the individual has agreed to will show on the web database.
Where details have been omitted in the questionnaire, these empty fields will not show on the web database. Occasionally organisation details may be used to create a hard copy of the database.
