Community regeneration

There is an absolute determination to make Middlesbrough prosperous and successful; a safe and clean place where people want to live, work, invest, bring up their families and can respect each other. The Mayor makes it very clear that we must maintain our efforts to continue the regeneration of the town and the renewal of communities.

The work of the community regeneration section is focused on priority neighbourhoods across the town. We are responsible for:

  • neighbourhood management
  • community development
  • community cohesion
  • support for the BME network
  • civil renewal
  • community councils and a portfolio of local community centres run by voluntary management committees.
