Citizenship Ceremonies

British Citizenship Ceremonies in Middlesbrough

On behalf of the Home Office, the Middlesbrough Register Office provides an official citizenship ceremony to celebrate the attainment of British nationality.

This is the final stage in the process of becoming a British Citizen.

For your initial enquiry in applying to become a British Citizen please contact the Home Office or phone 0845 010 5200.

Nationality checking services are available from some Register Offices, locally this is Redcar & Cleveland and Hartlepool.

When the Home Office grants citizenship, it sends us your details, and we contact you directly, inviting you to the next ceremomy.

Our ceremonies take place in the grand setting of the Town Hall’s Council Chamber. They take place usually on a Monday evening, in the presence of the Deputy Mayor of Middlesbrough. There is excellent musical support from Abingdon School, and refreshments afterwards. You are welcome to bring friends and family – there are opportunities for photographs.

At the end of the ceremony you will receive your certificate of naturalisation, British Passport Application Form, Electoral Registration Form and a souvenir of the occasion.

We are very pleased and proud to be part of your ceremony, which welcomes all new citizens on behalf of HM Queen Elizabeth and Middlesbrough Council.
