There is a current vacancy for a Borough Councillor in the Ayresome Ward following the resignation of Councillor Barbara Dunne. A letter requesting an election be called has been received and, if the election is contested, the Poll will take place on Thursday, 9 September 2010. Official notices in relation to this election can be found in the “Downloads” section.

Nomination papers for the election may be obtained from Electoral Services, Middlesbrough Council, P.O. Box 99A, Town Hall, Middlesbrough, TS1 2QQ during normal office hours. The Returning Officer will, at the request of a registered elector, prepare a nomination paper for signature.

Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer, Electoral Services, Middlesbrough Council, P.O. Box 99A, Town Hall, Middlesbrough, TS1 2QQ during normal office hours on any date after the date of this notice but no later than NOON on Thursday, 12 August 2010.

Register to vote – Remember your name must be included on the Electoral Register for you to be able to vote. If you are not currently registered, complete a Voter Registration Form and return it to Electoral Services by Tuesday, 24 August 2010.

Postal Voting – Is a convenient way of voting and is available to everyone. If you would prefer to vote by post, instead of visiting a polling station, complete a Postal Vote application form and return to Electoral Services by 5.00pm Tuesday, 24 August 2010.
