Scheme for financing schools
Every Local Authority has to have a Scheme for Financing Schools. This document defines the financial relationship between the Authority and the schools in its area.
The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) provides Local Authorities with a model scheme, which they must adopt. However they can amend or add to the scheme, if they wish to reflect any local changes or policies. Sometimes a Local Authority has to make revisions to their scheme that is directed by the DCSF.
All schools should be consulted on any amendments or additions to the scheme and they all have to be approved by the Schools Forum.
The current Middlesbrough Scheme for Financing Schools is available as a downloadable document at the bottom of this page.
Also available as a downloadable document is a draft version of the 2010/11 Scheme together with a report summarising the main proposed changes. If you wish to comment on any of the proposed changes to the Scheme then please e-mail julie_oram@middlesbrough.gov.uk by Friday 23rd April 2010.
The draft Scheme will be sent to Schools Management Forum for final approval at the meeting on the 29th April 2010.
