Investors in people
Middlesbrough Council – An Investor in People
Middlesbrough Council achieved corporate accreditation of the Investors in People standard in November 2008. The regional Investors in People awarding body 'Assessment North East' stated in its report that Middlesbrough Council has strong leadership providing direction for the organisation, a broad range of learning and development opportunities for all staff and opportunities for career development
The IiP Standard
The Standard is based up of 3 principals;
IIP is a business improvement tool, a standard of best practice for the management of an organisation and is based upon a model of continuous improvement.
The IIP standard is made up of ten performance indicators, which are based upon three principals; plan, do and review.
1. Plan – develop strategies to improve performance of the organisation;
2. Do – take action to improve the performance of the organisation; and
3. Review – evaluate the impact on the performance of the organisation.
Next Steps
Middlesbrough Council is continuing to meet the IIP standard through its organisational development and workforce planning activities and is due to be reassessed in 2011.
