Clean becks campaign

Tony McMahon and David Wheater at Hemlington Lake

Middlesbrough Council is proud to be working in partnership with the Environment Agency and the Tees Valley Wildlife Trust on a project called the Clean Becks campaign. The campaign aims to improve the condition of the becks for the benefit of everyone living near these important waterways. We want to involve the community throughout the project, and your views and opinions are most welcome.

Middlesbrough Football Club is also a Clean Becks campaign partner. Star players David Wheater and Tony McMahon attended a special event at Hemlington Lake to celebrate the club joining the campaign.

Defender David Wheater said: “I would ask our fans and local communities to help keep our waterways clean, use them responsibly and to be proud of our local environment.”

Our Spring 2010 newsletter is available to download at the right of this page, along with previous editions. Our newsletters are packed with information about the campaign and how you can get involved.
