Local nature reserves

Local Nature Reserves are special places for both people and wildlife. They provide opportunities for people to experience the natural world and learn more about wildlife.

In England there are currently over 1,000 local nature reserves. Middlesbrough has designated three. These are Stainton Quarry, Linthorpe Cemetary and Berwick Hills.

Middlesbrough Council, through it's Wildspace Project, is creating and enhancing local nature reserves. The project organises community events and school projects.
