Notice of intention to demolish

Development control
The Development control team deals with planning applications on a day-to-day basis taking into account local and national policy to manage development.

In this section you can search and comment planning applications, download relevant forms, submit applications online, view planning advice documents, contact the department for advice, and search and report planning enforcement issues.

Building control
Building control administer the Building Regulations to ensure Health and Safety, Welfare and Convenience of people using buildings. If you intend to erect, alter or extend a building, it is likely that you will need Building Regulation approval.

The regulations apply (except for certain Exempt buildings) to all development from simple domestic properties including alterations/extensions and re-roofing up to million-pound projects. Pre-submission advice is also available to applicants and details will be given in writing if requested.

It should be noted that having received Planning Permission this does not mean Building Regulation Approval has been obtained.

Planning policy
The team has a wide-ranging role within Planning Services with reponsibility for all aspects of planning policy. At the strategic level, this includes the implementation of national and regional planning policy and at the local level, the preparation of the emerging Middlesbrough Local Development Framework (LDF). The LDF sets out the development priorities across the town, which will provide the landscape of the future and drive Middlesbrough's regeneration.

Implementation (Major projects)
The implementation team identifies, develops and delivers a range of economic, physical and community regeneration projects using a variety of funding sources. Such projects include the Stockton Middlesbrough Initiative, Middlehaven, Urban Regeneration Strategy, Cannon Park, West Lane and Acklam Hall.

Conservation
The Conservation team is responsible in guiding the Council in the protection and management of historic buildings and areas. The team gives advice to the Planning and Development Control team regarding applications relating to listed buildings or conservation areas. The team is also reponsible to provide advices on repair, maintenance and alteration of historic buildings.
The team plays a key role in making grants available to assist in the cost of repairing and renovating listed buildings and structures. The team also advises on proposed changes within a conservation area, including development proposals. The team works actively in improving knowledge and understanding of the importance and value of the historic environment.
