Building control
Building regulations are the minimum standards laid down by Government. They address the design and construction of buildings as well as the provision of services, fittings and equipment in buildings.
The building control service in Middlesbrough fulfils the purpose of supervising the functions as set out in the Building Act 1984 and other relevant building legislation. Our aim is :
- to provide a professional, customer oriented service ensuring that all building work complies with the building regulations;
- that the health and safety of people in or about buildings is not compromised;
- that the welfare and convenience of people with disabilities are catered for satisfactorily;
- to advise with the legislation on conservation of fuel and power.
