Roadworks and utilities
Network Management
The planning and co-ordination of events on the highway is essential to minimise the disruption to traffic on the network. Work needs to be undertaken by many groups for specific purposes. Middlesbrough Council needs to carry out road works to maintain, repair and renew the highways and footways; utility organisations need access into the highway to place and maintain their apparatus for the benefit of their customers. Potential conflicts need to be carefully handled and a co-ordinated, proactive approach is necessary to manage the network.
Middlesbrough Council have a streetworks register which enables both our own road works promoters and the utility streetworks promoters to register their works. The streetworks register is updated at regular timed intervals throughout the day and the information thereon is constantly reviewed by the network management team to ensure activity co-ordination.
For everyone, the ability to undertake their acitvities in safety remains a priority.
