Transport planning
Transport planning is of growing importance in our community and is something we take very seriously in Middlesbrough. We operate a 5 year Local Transport Plan (LTP) and from this generate intermediary Annual Progress Reports (APR).
Middlesbrough’s second Local Transport Plan (LTP) for the period 2006 – 2011 illustrates where progress has been made in delivering improvements over recent years and where transport must contribute to our new Community Strategy and “Raising Hope” Agenda. This agenda is set by the Mayor and supported by the Council’s executive and non-executive councillors.
The agenda is built on four pillars:
- A clean, safe environment, in which people can go about their business without fear of crime and anti-social behaviour
- Physical regeneration of the town’s run-down sites and buildings
- A business-friendly enterprise culture which welcomes would-be investors
- A transport network which can meet the needs of a town on its way up.
The Local Transport Plan:
- examines the national influences on our future transport strategy
- sets out the regional and sub-regional context within which the LTP sits
- summarises problems, issues, interventions and outcomes for key transport priorities
- details our five year implementation plan to deliver our anticipated outcomes
- sets out how we will monitor progress through a series of key indicators and targets.
