Assessing the impact of decisions

The Council is committed to ensuring that its decision making processes give appropriate consideration to the potential impact of proposals on communities and individuals within the town. As such impact assessments are completed inline with the Council's Impact Assessment policy. These impact assessments are then considered as part of the decision making process. Copies of impact assessments that are submitted to formal Committees of the Council can be found by viewing the Council's Committee papers system (Egenda).

2013-14 Revenue Budget

The 2013-14 draft Council Revenue Budget has been heavily impacted by the Government's decision to (i) cut a number of funding streams previously accessed by the Council and (ii) further reduce the Council's revenue spending power for 2013-14. As a result the proposals that have been developed for the 2013-14 revenue budget have had to reflect these circumstances. Given the wide ranging nature of the proposed budget savings, a process was developed for 2013-14 to ensure that the proposals put forward to achieve a balanced budget would be properly impact assessed.

Individual impact assessments were completed for the Mayor's budget proposals where it was identified that there could be an impact on service users or staff. These documents were then used to inform the overall impact assessment of the budget.
