Opportunities to volunteer at the newly opened myplace Middlesbrough
myplace Middlesbrough benefits from the help of a range of volunteers. The project is led by a group of young people who give up a significant amount of their free time. They are responsible for a range of issues related to the project, from promotion to interior design.
During project development, myplace has also been supported by volunteers that are part of a WNF programme, which awards bursaries to those who are willing to volunteer. These volunteers, themselves young people (aged 17-18), have supported some of the younger members, helped with consultation exercises, developed promotional material and helped out at public events.
Volunteers come from a range of backgrounds. This not only includes youth workers who are looking to work closely with the steering group, but also those with specific knowledge that can offer expert support. One volunteer, for example, with a music production background provided support on the range of musical equipment that would be required in the practicing/recording studios.
Now the facility has opened there are a wide range of volunteering opportunities available. Please visit the Current opportunities page for further details or email volunteering@middlesbrough.gov.uk to request more information.
