Trading standards
The trading standards service is responsible for the regulation of all businesses in Middlesbrough in areas such as unsafe goods, false descriptions, counterfeiting, consumer credit, pricing, under-age sales and weights and measures.
The service has responsibility for over 50 Acts of Parliament and over 500 Associated regulations covering all levels and types of trade.
We offer a diverse range of services for consumers and business customers, including:

- Tees Valley Measurement – High accuracy calibration and heavy equipment testing
The aim of our service is to promote the economic vitality of Middlesbrough through encouraging fair competition and ensuring adequate protection for consumers.
