The Department of Social Care’s Mission Statement is:

“Within available resources, to provide for the needs of the most vulnerable residents of Middlesbrough, in order to promote their independence and well-being”.

Social Care services will continue to work to:

• Ensure vulnerable adults are safe and secure.
• Promote independence, provide support and widen choices and opportunities for vulnerable people.
• Support local communities in providing environments that are healthy and secure for people with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, mental health problems, problems arising from substance misuse and those who are vulnerable as the result of age or frailty.
• Help to achieve a safe environment for the people of Middlesbrough through the deployment of well trained Street Wardens.
