The Captain Cook Birthplace Museum is situated within the landscaped grounds of Stewart Park near to the site of the cottage where James Cook was born.

The museum opened in 1978 and celebrates the life and achievements of Captain Cook, the world's most famous navigator.

The museum has a regular programme of events, exhibitions and activities, which draw upon the life of Captain Cook and the people and lands that he visited.

The Captain Cook Birthplace Museum is an ideal starting point from which to explore Captain Cook Country and life in the eighteenth century.
