A major appeal has been made for Middlesbrough residents to support local foodbanks which have seen a sharp rise in users. Middlesbrough Foodbank serves around 7,700 individuals, but since the Coronavirus outbreak the service has seen a sharp rise in the number of people using it, and also a decrease in food donations.
Middlesbrough Town Hall will fly an NHS flag in a show of solidarity with all those working to keep people safe. The iconic blue and white logo will be joined by a rainbow flag to symbolise the community spirit shown by so many people during the Covid-19 crisis.
Special 'virtual' hubs are helping to deliver food and support to some of Middlesbrough's most vulnerable residents during the Coronavirus crisis. The Shielding Hub and Community Hub are gearing up to help up to 1,000 people a week across Middlesbrough throughout the pandemic.
