Every year in England, accidents at home among under-5s result in around:
- 450,000 visits to A&E
- 40,000 emergency hospital admissions
The most serious preventable accidents which happen to under-5s fall into five main categories:
- threats to breathing
- falls
- poisoning
- burns and scalds
- drowning
