Acklam Cemetery

The risks of coronavirus remain high. To keep everyone safe, please stay cautious. Get the latest information about coronavirus.

Acklam Cemetery is adjacent to the Crematorium. It has a total area of 23 acres with over 12,000 graves. Burial services can take place in the adjacent crematorium chapels, for internments in all of our cemeteries.

The cemetery is divided into consecrated and unconsecrated areas, so both religious and non-religious burials are available. The following types of grave are available at Acklam Cemetery:

  • lawn graves
  • traditional graves
  • public graves
  • baby graves
  • Muslim graves
  • woodland graves
  • meadowland graves

Opening times - 2021

Days Times
Monday to Sunday

1 February to 21 March - 8am to 6pm

22 March to 10 April - 8am to 7pm

11 April to 29 August - 8am to 8pm

30 August to 24 October - 8am to 7pm

25 October to 31 October - 8am to 6pm

1 November onwards - 8am to 6pm

Please note, these times are a general rule but may vary slightly depending on weather conditions. We want to maximise the amount of time that relatives can spend in the cemeteries but we must also consider safety during poor weather.

In the autumn, as the nights draw in, the closing times are changed when the sunset time gets within 10 to 15 minutes of the hour, or a little more if this is over a weekend. If the weather is going through a particularly dark and cloudy spell, we may bring the date of the change forward slightly to ensure the public are kept safe.
