Because of coronavirus (COVID-19), there are a number of changes to our services, and new guidance about attending funerals and burials.
If you need help or have any questions, the Crematorium Office is open for phone calls from 9am to 12pm, and 2pm to 4pm.
Anyone who attends a cremation service at Teesside Crematorium (St Bede's or St Hilda's chapel) must wear a face covering.
The maximum number of people who can attend burial and cremation services is 30 people. Please follow social distancing rules at all times with anyone who is not part of your household or 'bubble'.
Please limit the number of people attending the burial or cremation service to members of the deceased person's household, and their close family and friends.
Visiting the Chapel of Remembrance
The Chapel of Remembrance is closed until further notice. You can still view the Book of Remembrance online at any time.
Memorials and remembrance
Appointments must be made to:
- collect ashes
- scatter ashes in the Garden of Remembrance
- place ashes into an above-ground vault
Because of government rules, only 15 people can attend to scatter ashes, or place ashes into a grave or an above ground vault. You still need to stay 2m apart from anyone who's not part of your household. Please remember to stay 2m away from our staff too.
To keep you and our staff safe, we'll be doing things a bit differently. For example, you can book appointments in advance, but you will need to call us back 48 hours before your booked date to confirm your to time to attend. We'll explain all these things when you contact us.
Changes and closures still in place
The following changes are still in place:
- The cemeteries and crematorium office is closed to the public. Please contact staff by email or phone.
- For cremations, the curtains will be closed for the committal until further notice.
