Apprenticeships are suitable for both school and college leavers, or people looking to retrain.
We employ apprentices across all departments, and in a range of different roles. Our apprenticeships begin at level 2 (equivalent to 5 GCSEs) for entry-level positions, with the opportunity to progress to level 7 (equivalent to a Master's degree) in some areas. Find out more about the apprenticeships we offer.
We have a long history of employing apprentices in all areas of the council, with most moving on to full time positions. In fact, our current Chief Executive, Tony Parkinson, started his career with Middlesbrough Council as a trainee in the finance department.
