The government says asylum seekers are not allowed to work while they are waiting for a decision. The exception is if you have been waiting for a decision for over 12 months, or you are registered on the skills shortage list. This page is only for people who have received a positive decision and are allowed to look for work.

Middlesbrough is a great place to live and work. There are lots of opportunities available to help you into work.

The Employment Engagement Group meets regularly to look at ways to help people into jobs.

Additionally, there are various employment groups working together to help refugees into work. This is a project offered by the North East Migration Partnership and more information is available on their website.

Step Forward Tees Valley is a great organisation which lets you access lots of different courses.

A good place to look for work is through the Jobcentre's own website.
