Waiting for a decision

The Home Office and UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) are responsible for making a decision on your asylum application. If you are currently waiting for a decision, they will provide you with accommodation and financial support. If something does go wrong or you have any problems, you can contact Stronger Communities Middlesbrough by emailing scm@middlesbrough.gov.uk. We'll try to help.

Migrant Help provides free, independent advice to asylum seekers to help them make a claim for support. They also give general advice about the asylum process. You will need to contact them to make a claim for asylum support in the first instance. You can contact them through the Migrant Help website or you can phone 0808 8000 630.

If you have no other means of support, you will be given accommodation on a 'no choice' basis by one of UKVI's accommodation providers. In Middlesbrough, the housing provider is Mears. They are responsible for your accommodation. If you have any issues with your housing, please contact your housing manager or speak with Migrant Help on 0808 8000 630.
