Following the local elections in May 2023, Labour has taken control of Middlesbrough Council, with newly-elected mayor Chris Cooke leading 24 of his party's councillors.

The full political makeup of the council is now:

  • Labour - 24

Executive

Executive members are councillors who have responsibility for one of the council's departments. They are responsible for sharing information, working closely with staff, and looking at how to deal with problems.
