Distribution of free printed matter (leaflets and flyers)

England is now in lockdown again. A number of businesses must close and there are more restrictions on meeting people. Find out what this means for you.

It's an offence to give out free printed matter (nightclub flyers, free newspapers, special offer leaflets etc.) in the Middlesbrough 'free printed matter distribution area' without consent. The area includes the town centre, Riverside Stadium, Cannon Park and Linthorpe Road from the town centre to the Cenotaph.

The maximum penalty on conviction is a £2,500 fine. Prosecution can be avoided by paying a fixed penalty of £80 (£50 if paid within 10 days).

To find out more about applying for consent to distribute free printed matter contact the Licensing department on 01642 728011.
