The Teesside Archives online catalogue includes the British Steel Collection catalogues, and an overview of many of our other collections.
To exclusively search the Teesside Archives catalogues in the Discovery Catalogue, select the 'search other archives' option in the 'held by' section, then type Teesside Archives in the box below.
It's worth checking both catalogues as some records are only available on one. Please note that not all of our collections are fully catalogued.
You'll need to make a note of the reference number of any items you're be interested in viewing.
Teesside Archives is temporarily closed while we relocate to a new home at the Dorman Museum. We will not be accepting any requests for access to the collections until we reopen in our new home early in the New Year.
Researching family history
Most family history resources such as parish records are accessible on microfilm through Middlesbrough Reference Library, Hartlepool Reference Library, Stockton Reference Library, or Redcar Reference Library.
Many Church of England parish registers for Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland have been digitised as part of the Yorkshire Parish Records Project and are available to view on FindmyPast.
For more information on the availability and location of church records for Teesside please see the guide to Church of England parish registers, Non-Conformist parish registers and Roman Catholic parish registers.
Records available online
Yorkshire Parish Records are available to search and view on FindmyPast. A list is available showing the parishes and covering dates for baptisms, marriages and burials.
School records including admission registers and logbooks from 1870 to 1914 are available to search and view on FindmyPast. A list of schools included in the project is available.
Please note: FindmyPast is a subscription-based website with free access available at some local libraries.
