A Middlesbrough Council team have been praised for their "unbelievable" achievement of delivering elite customer service for 25 years.
The authority's Revenues and Benefits team have held the Customer Service Excellence Award since 1996.
And following their most recent visit from the Centre for Assessment the team has once more been accredited with compliance plus in 10 areas demonstrating that the service is delivering ‘elite' customer excellence in service delivery.
Middlesbrough Council Chief Executive Tony Parkinson said: "To have retained this accreditation for 25 years is an unbelievable achievement.
"Revenues and Benefits is a Council service that everyone in the town will come into contact with so it is hugely pleasing to know that Middlesbrough's service is one of the best in the country.
"We are incredibly proud of the team and what they have achieved consistently for two and a half decades."
The five bullet points for assessment are:
- Customer insight;
- The culture of the organisation;
- Information and access;
- Delivery; and
- Timeliness and quality of service.
A letter to the service from the Centre for Assessment reads: "Congratulations on all your organisation's hard work to achieve this prestigious award. On behalf of centre for assessment and your assessor I would like to thank you, your organisation and all your staff for the hospitality shown to our assessor throughout the assessment process. We have all enjoyed working with you providing your assessment to help your organisation achieve Customer Service Excellence standard."
The team's head of service delivery Janette Savage said: "We are all very proud to retain this accreditation, particularly being recognised for elite service in ten areas. It's a real team effort to achieve this status and we'll be doing everything we can to maintain and improve our standards."
