Motorists are being warned of expected delays on the A66 this afternoon (Friday, September 21) due to work to fix an overhead gantry sign that has come loose in the high winds.
The sign is located above the westbound carriageway to the east of Marton Road interchange.
Emergency repairs are due to be carried out as the sign is in danger of falling onto the carriageway below.
In order to carry these works out safely, two of the three westbound traffic lanes will need to be closed to traffic. These lane closures will be implemented by Cleveland Police, and will remain in place until the repairs have been completed.
Given the volume of traffic that uses this section of the A66 on a Friday afternoon, delays are inevitable. Drivers are asked to be patient and to exercise care when passing the works area.
