A new musical is bringing the best of sixties Boro to Middlesbrough Theatre this summer.
‘Our Trevor’ is inspired by the true story of a Middlesbrough lad and his father, former Middlesbrough Council councillor Fred Moore.
It has been written and produced by Fred Moore’s granddaughter, Samantha Moore, as a tribute to her father and grandfather.
The musical is set in 1960s Middlesbrough, when The Beatles first burst onto the scene. It offers mix of hard-hitting reality and-off the-wall fantasy, with the main character falling into a fantastical dream sequence after receiving a letter from football legend Brian Clough.
The main character is inspired by Samantha’s father, a passionate Boro supporter who grew up on Ayresome Park Road when it was home to Middlesbrough FC. Her family treasures the letter he received from Brian Clough to this day.
Packed with the sounds of the sixties, the musical soundtrack is performed live by Middlesbrough band The Moondogs.
The local cast includes a very special canine cast member, playing Trevor’s beloved dog Kim.
Samantha, the writer and producer, said: “It was after the passing of my father in 2019 that I decided I wanted to write a musical inspired by his life, and the massive influence he had on mine.
“My dad’s passion for Boro FC was like nothing else. He followed them up and down the country and never missed a match – a love that has been passed onto me and the rest of my family.
“This town is everything to me, as it was to my dad and grandad. This is just the start for ‘Our Trevor’, and I hope to tour it up and down the country. I want to put Middlesbrough on the map!”
Our Trevor is showing at Middlesbrough Theatre from Wednesday 29 June - Saturday 2 July 2022.
Tickets are priced at £16 Adult and £13.50 Concessions, including £1 booking fee. Visit the Middlesbrough Theatre website to book.
