There's an open invitation to the local community this week to help Middlesbrough Town Hall get set for the festive season.
The historic venue’s elves are on the look-out for surplus decorations to adorn a tree befitting the first Christmas since the Town Hall‘s spectacular £7.7 million makeover.
The foyer is now home to a 15ft tree, with branches ready to be filled by the town’s citizens.
Local artists have held a series of community workshops to enable local people to get involved with the upcycling of baubles ready to decorate the tree.
And on Friday (December 7) there’s a chance to deck the tree out in the lovingly crafted decorations, with mince pies and Christmas carols thrown in.
Town Hall Head of Programmes Lorna Fulton said: “It is fantastic to see our local community coming together to create and contribute to the Community Christmas Tree.
“The workshops have seen people of every age and background enjoy some festive fun and really get the Town Hall into the Christmas spirit.
“Their input has ensured this will truly be a tree for the people of Middlesbrough, created and decorated by the community.”
- Decorate the Town Hall Community Christmas Tree on Friday, December 7 from 3.30pm.
