Love Hemlington? Come and join us!

A community group for people who love Hemlington is looking for more volunteers.

Each month the Passionate about Hemlington members, from various organisations including the Parkway Centre, Cleveland Fire Brigade, Co-Op Funeral Care as well as members of the public, come together to litter pick.

The next event is taking place on Friday, August 16 and the group will meet at Hemlington Recreation Centre at 10.30am.

One of the volunteers, Hemlington ward councillor Jeanette Walker, said: "It would be great to get even more members of the community coming along and joining in the litter pick with us.

"It's always a really pleasant way to spend a morning with like-minded people and you get a real sense of satisfaction when you see the difference you can make in your own community.

"We are a friendly lot and everyone who comes along gets a free cup of tea afterwards."

As well as the regular Hemlington event, during July and August Middlesbrough Council is holding a town-wide clean-up to tidy up communities across Middlesbrough. Anyone who is interested in joining in and volunteering to clean or litter pick can contact Middlesbrough Council for help with equipment. Email cleanup@middlesbrough.gov.uk.
