Tis the season to be merry and bright, and visitors to the Dorman Museum can look forward to a Christmas Extravaganza this weekend, filled with cheer and colourful fun.
The museum will be filled with festive delights for all to enjoy. Attractions include an interactive Elf Town, a brand new exhibition, arts and crafts, a Christmas Trail, a festive market and a ride into a Christmas sky adventure on the virtual reality Santa's Sleigh.
Santa's elves will take visitors along for some festive fun as they prepare for the big day, and there's an opportunity to test your Christmas knowledge and explore a museum-inspired toy shop too.
Brand new exhibition, Wow Said the Owl, is based on the best-selling book by Tim Hopgood. Aimed at young families and fans of the book, the inspiration for the exhibition is bright, bold and colourful and also contains sensory delights.
To accompany the exhibition, families can enjoy story-time from a fluffy and friendly animatronic owl.
The Crafty Elf challenge offers a fun workshop where families can make sparkling gifts and Christmas decorations.
A Christmas Trail will lead to a journey of discovery as it takes visitors around the museum to look for treasure and intriguing objects from the collection.
If Christmas shopping is on the list, a festive market featuring a selection of small and independent businesses from across Teesside can be found in the temporary gallery space.
The museum gift shop also contains festive shopping inspiration with Linthorpe Pottery inspired presents and fun stocking filler ideas for pocket money surprises.
An exciting addition to the Christmas Extravaganza includes the chance to ride on Santa's Sleigh via a virtual reality, high definition, 4D experience.
Simulating soaring through the Christmas sky into Santa's secret headquarters, the sleigh is proving to be very popular with visitors and advance booking is highly recommended.
The virtual reality Santa's Sleigh is recommended for age five plus. Tickets are £4 per person or £14 for a family of four.
The Dorman Museum Christmas Extravaganza is on Saturday, December 11 & Sunday, December 12 from 10am to 4pm.
Admission to the museum is free and includes access to the interactive Elf Town and entry to the Wow Said the Owl exhibition.
