Cervical Cancer Prevention Week, 22-28 January 2018
Nine women are diagnosed with cervical cancer every day. 75% of cervical cancers can be prevented by cervical screening (smear test), but 1 in 4 women don't book a cervical screening appointment even when they're reminded.
If you're struggling to find time for your screening during the day, you can now book evening and weekend appointments. All you need to do is book these appointments through your own GP.
The 'Cervical Screening Saves Lives' campaign is a joint initiative between NHS England, Middlesbrough Council and other partners. We have developed a campaign based on what real women in the local area are telling us and we have spent time talking to local women to find out the reasons why many aren't attending their routine screening test.
Using all the information we have gathered, we developed an overall message: cervical screening saves lives - don't be the one missing out!
Pledge your support
We're now encouraging women to get on board with our campaign and pledge their support to inspire others to make screening part of their routine.
Pledge your support to the campaign and encourage others who might be put off going for their screening. You might just save someone's life!
