Based at Resolution House on Cargo Fleet Lane, Fleet Services provide and maintain the council's fleet of vehicles. Vehicles are hired out to all council departments for long and short-term needs, and a full range of vehicle maintenance and services are provided in the workshops.
These services are also available to other public and voluntary sector organisations which are funded by the council. Payment for services can now be made by credit and debit cards.
MOT tests can be carried out for vehicles in classes IV, V, and VII. The MOT does not include any repairs, but we will carry out minor adjustments if required, e.g. headlamp adjustment.

A Section 19 (Transport Act 1985) permit allows a minibus to be operated for hire or reward by organisations concerned with education, religion, social welfare, recreation or other activities of benefit to the community on a non-profit basis. The driver of a section 19-permit minibus can be either a paid or unpaid volunteer.
Fleet Services no longer supplies section 19 minibus permits. You can apply for a permit online via the GOV.UK website.
Middlesbrough Council is certified to provide training for minibus drivers in relation to driving assessments, wheelchair security and the safe operation of tail lifts.
Minibus driving assessments consist of a monitored drive of approximately 1.5 hours assessing a driver's skills and capabilities. Participants are steered towards improving their driving techniques with the ultimate goal being the safety of any passengers they carry. Tail lift training and wheelchair security training is to ensure the safe carriage of people confined to a wheelchair and needing to travel on an accessible bus.
All training is provided by Ayresome Community Transport. To find out more about minibus, wheelchair security and tail lift training, and associated costs call 01642 353438.
