Highway licences

Highway fees

Details of the costs of highway licences, including A-boards, pavement cafes, demolition, and cranes.

A board licence

If you want to use an advertising sign (A board) outside your business, you'll need a licence.

Road closures

If you want to close a road as part of an event, you'll need to apply to us for permission.

Cranes and equipment

If you want to use a crane or other equipment on the highway, you'll need a licence.

Demolition notice

If you plan to demolish a building or structure over 64.8 cubic metres, you'll need to give notice.

Scaffolding licences

If you want to erect hoarding or scaffolding on the highway, you'll need a licence.

Highway works licence

If you want to carry out work within, excavate, or break through the highway, you'll need a licence.

Materials on highway

If you want to deposit building materials or rubbish in a street, you'll need a licence.

Road opening licence

If you need to make an excavation in the highway, you'll need a licence.

Street cafe licence

If you want to create a street cafe (placing tables and chairs on the pavement), you'll need a licence.

Tower crane oversail

If you're planning to use a crane which will oversail the highway, you'll need a licence.

Pavement crossing

If you want to make a crossing between the road and your own land, you'll need a licence.
