Friends of the Tees Transporter Bridge

The Friends of the Tees Transporter Bridge has been established for those with an interest in the Bridge, and in supporting activities and events at Teesside's most iconic landmark. This might include activities such as assisting visitors, hosting exhibitions, fundraising, promoting the Bridge's heritage at events, and carrying out research to support the new Tees Transporter Bridge Visitor Experience.

Volunteering

A volunteer is being sought to help out at one of the region's most iconic landmarks. The role at the Tees Transporter Bridge will support the newly upgraded attraction, with duties covering the shop and helping visitors access the new lift.

The £2.6m refurbishment of the historic bridge and Visitor Experience has transformed the site into one of the region's leading leisure and heritage destinations.

The Heritage Lottery-funded project included the installation of a new gondola and glass viewing lift alongside state-of-the-art visitor facilities and the construction of a Winding House Viewing Area.

Specific duties involved in the new volunteer role will include staffing the visitor centre, escorting parties to the new lift and dealing with inquiries.

The successful candidate will have good customer care skills, a good head for heights and preferably

be able to give tours via the bridge's stairs.
