We are running a 'call for sites', during which sites which might be suitable for future development can be submitted to the council.
Documents
Boundary plans are available for:
- existing housing sites and sites submitted for housing potential (view sites on the town-wide map or view individual site boundary plans)
- sites allocated for Gypsy, Travellers, and Travelling Showpeople accommodation
- sites allocated for employment use
Conditions
You must have the landowner's consent before submitting a site, and they must be willing to release the site for development.
For sites which are to be considered for housing, the site should be a minimum of 0.25 ha, or able to accommodate at least 5 dwellings.
All submissions must be accompanied by a plan showing the boundary of the proposed site.
Have your say
The easiest way to submit suggestions of sites is to complete the online response form. There are three surveys:
- housing sites response form
- Gypsy, Traveller, and Travelling Showpeople sites response form
- employment sites survey
If you're struggling to use the online response form, you can also take part by sending your site submissions:
- by email to: planningpolicy@middlesbrough.gov.uk
- by post to: Planning Policy, Middlesbrough Council, Fountain Court, 119 Grange Road, Middlesbrough, TS1 2DT
The survey closes on 31 January 2023.
Local Plan scoping report
We're also consulting on our Local Plan Scoping Report, which is the first stage in preparing the new Local Plan. The Local Plan sets out a vision for the future development of Middlesbrough. Find out more and take part in the Local Plan Scoping Report consultation.
