The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) is one of a series of documents councils need to prepare under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (as amended 2008 and 2012). The SCI sets out the council's policy for involving the community in the preparation of Local Development Plan documents and in the consideration of planning applications.
Middlesbrough Council adopted its first SCI in December 2005, and it was later reviewed in April 2010. Following the introduction of the Localism Act 2011, the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), and amendments to the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) Regulations in 2012, a second review was required.
The council adopted the revised SCI on 30 March 2016.
Copies of the newly adopted SCI, Consultation Statement and Statutory Notice of Adoption are available to view or download below:
Copies of both documents are also available for inspection at Middlesbrough's Civic Centre and the town's public libraries.
