Waste Recycling Site

Household Waste Recycling Centre

We've launched a new system so you can book an appointment to take your bulky waste to the Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) at Haverton Hill.

We need to reduce the number of people going to the HWRC, so we can follow the government's rules on social distancing. The only way you'll be able to take your waste to the HWRC is by booking an appointment. Please don't just turn up - you won't be allowed in.

Please note this service is for Middlesbrough residents only. If you are a Stockton resident you must book your appointment via the Stockton Council website.

How to book

The booking system is easy to use. Go to the HWRC online booking website, scroll down and you'll see a calendar of appointments. There are only 10 slots available for each half hour booking - if all 10 have already been booked, you'll need to choose a different time.

It is one booking per resident. If you make multiple bookings, they will be cancelled. Please be respectful of other residents who will also want to book appointments.

Important - read this before making a booking

To make a booking, you must enter the following information into the booking form:

  • full name
  • email address (so we can send you confirmation and reminder emails)
  • phone number
  • postcode (enter this in the note field of the booking form) - you will need to bring proof of your postcode when you visit the HWRC
  • vehicle registration number (enter this in the note field of the booking form)

If you don't give all the required information, your booking will be cancelled.

Once you've booked

Once you've booked your slot, you'll get a confirmation email. It'll also include a link you can use to cancel your booking if you need to.

The email will come from Reservio (notifications@reservio.com), and the subject will be 'HWRC appointment'.

We'll send you a reminder email the day before your appointment.

Rules

Social distancing of at least 2 metres will be strictly enforced at all times while you're at the HWRC. We have a zero tolerance policy against people who are not social distancing - you will be asked to leave the site.

We have a zero tolerance policy against people who are abusive to HWRC staff - you will be asked to leave the site.

Your booking will be for a half hour slot - e.g. 8am to 8:30am. Please be on time for the start of the slot (e.g. 8am) and make sure you leave by the end of the slot (e.g. 8:30am).

Only cars are allowed at the HWRC. Vans, commercial vehicles, or any trailers aren't allowed.

Only one person is allowed per car. Please make sure that you're able to unload and move your waste items alone. You won't be able to bring anyone with you, and HWRC staff will not be able to help you.

Blue Badge holders may be accompanied by one family member.
