Teesside Crematorium

As a result of the current coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, there are a number of changes/closures to our services, and new guidance about attending funerals and burials.

We're now starting to some services again. The number of people who can attend a burial or cremation service is 30. From 8 August, anyone attending a service in the chapels at Teesside Crematorium, or visiting the Chapel of Remembrance, must wear a face covering. Please read our latest updates and advice for everything you need to know.

We're currently unable to accept any applications for memorials. Please don't try and send us an application, as we will not be able to respond. We're hoping to start accepting memorial applications again in October, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Your initial booking arrangements will be accepted over the telephone. The minimum period of notice normally required for cremations is two working days (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays). Full details of the process of booking a cremation, and anything else you'll need to know, are available on the crematorium procedures page.

To find out about the memorials available, visit the memorials and remembrance page.

The following services are also available at Teesside Crematorium:

  • memorial services held quarterly at the crematorium
  • annual Requiem Mass for Catholics held at the cathedral in Coulby Newham
  • annual outdoor services at the baby memorials in Acklam and Linthorpe Cemeteries

The crematorium has two chapels, St. Bede's and St. Hilda's. There are car parks for both chapels.

The St. Bede's car park has 58 spaces, and a bay for parking a coach if necessary. Disabled parking spaces are approximately 50 metres from the front doors of the chapel.

The St. Hilda's car park has 40 spaces, and a bay for parking a coach if necessary. Disabled parking spaces are approximately 25 metres from the front doors of the chapel.

If the car parks are full, there is designated roadside parking on the road leading to the Crematorium. If the roadside parking spaces are full, there is also designated parking along the roadside in the designated  'overflow' parking area inside the adjoining Acklam Cemetery.

Please be considerate and don't park in a way which stops vehicles being able to pass, or prevents the funeral cortege from reaching the chapel. This includes parking in areas which aren't designated parking spaces, or on the grass verges.

There is no designated taxi drop-off point, but there is plenty of space to allow passengers to be dropped off within 20-25m of the front doors of both chapels.
