If you're in a crisis and you can't afford food, you might be able to get free food from a foodbank. A crisis might be something like losing your job, becoming homeless, or getting an unexpected bill which leaves you with no money. You'll need a voucher before you can get food from a food bank.

Find out where foodbanks are and how to get a voucher.

Free food

If you can't afford to buy food, there are places in Middlesbrough where you can get free food.

Some places are foodbanks, where you'll need a voucher before you can get food. These are clearly shown on the list. In other places you can get food without having a voucher.

In an emergency

We can provide emergency food/utilities Monday to Friday. If you’re in need, call Freephone 0808 1789278.

If you need emergency food on a Saturday or Sunday, call or text 07764 413673 between 9am and 3pm, and the Fire Brigade will deliver a food parcel to you free of charge. As part of the service, the Fire Brigade will also offer a free 'safer homes' visit to make sure your home is safe and warm.
