Food poisoning

Food poisoning is caused by eating something which has been contaminated with germs. Causes of food poisoning include food which:

  • hasn't been cooked properly
  • is past its 'use by' date
  • has been handled by someone who is ill or hasn't washed their hands

People often assume food poisoning was caused by the last meal they ate, but it can actually be caused by food they ate several days earlier.
