Man dumps mattress in alleyway

Can you help name this brazen fly-tipper caught on camera dumping a mattress?

The man was caught on camera dumping the unwanted bedding in the alley behind Middlesbrough’s Kensington Road on Sunday, April 7.

He’s being sought by Middlesbrough Council’s Neighbourhood Safety Team as part of the town’s ongoing crackdown on fly-tipping.

Fly-tippers face a Fixed Penalty Notice of £800, reduced to £600 if paid within  seven days. Failing to ensure waste is disposed of legally can land a householder with a fine of between £600.

Councillor Janet Thompson, Middlesbrough Council’s Executive member for Community Safety, said: “This sort of selfish, inconsiderate behaviour has no place in Middlesbrough, and those responsible will be caught and punished.

“With the public’s support we will continue to use every tool at our disposal until we rid our streets of this scourge.”

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Council’s contact centre on 01642 726001 quoting incident reference number 619864.

Anti-social behaviour, fly-tipping and dozens of other offences can also be reported online here.

Middlesbrough Council offers a safe, free or inexpensive bulky waste collection service. For more information and to request a collection, visit the bulky waste collection section of our site or call 01642 726001.
