Online briefing to be held ahead of potential ward boundary changes

Council and democracy

Middlesbrough Town Hall

Middlesbrough residents are invited to attend an online briefing as part of a review of council ward boundaries.

The online presentation on Thursday November 23 at 7pm comes as the Local Government Boundary Commission (LGBC) conducts an Electoral Review of the town.

An Electoral Review looks at the number of councillors and wards, boundaries between wards, ward names and the number of councillors elected to each ward.

Phase one of the review has considered councillor numbers.

In line with the process, information about Middlesbrough has been shared with the LGBC for them to consider, alongside a joint proposal on numbers on behalf of elected members and officers of the Council.

Phase two considers more specifics about the wards. Residents will have the opportunity to tell the LGBC their views about how wards should be arranged. Consultation for phase two will take place from December 2023 to March 2024.

If you want to know more about phase two and how you can put forward your views, please attend the online community briefing which is being held by the LGBC on Thursday November 23 2023 from 7pm.

You can register for the event by clicking here.

You will then receive a separate link which you will use to join the webinar, held via Microsoft Teams. In this type of meeting you will be able to hear and see the presenters and ask questions using the chat function. Your camera and microphone will not be enabled.

Please note when registering you will be asked to provide an email address. We will only use this information to manage your invite and attendance.
