Locally, our indexes are available online, compliant with the Data Protection and Human Rights Act.
Records are held at the Register Office on an indefinite basis, the public may have access to these records. Copies of any register entry will be provided that they supply enough information to identify the entry and appropriate fee. Copies are issued in the form of a paper certified copy (“certificate”).

By law, registration officers are required to share data to assist in the detection of sham marriages and other criminal activity.

In all cases, your personal data is held securely and kept only as long as legally required to do so. Personal information will only be shared if the law allows us to, for example, the detection of fraudulent or criminal activity.
