Subscribe to garden waste collections

To get your garden waste collected, you need to subscribe to the garden waste service and pay an annual charge.

The subscription costs £40 per year for one garden waste bin. If you need more than one bin, you'll pay an extra £20 per year for each bin you have.

We recommend that you sign up as early in the year as possible. If you sign up later, you'll pay the same amount but you'll get less collections.

The last date to subscribe for this year's garden waste collections was 30 September 2024.

Subscriptions for 2025 garden waste collections will open in the new year. We'll provide more information closer to the time.

What happens next?

Once you're subscribed, we'll give you a new brown bin for your garden waste. It's the same size as the old green bins.

We'll empty your bin every 2 weeks between April and November. You can see your collection day on your bin calendar. Find out how to check your bin dates.

We'll only collect the waste in your brown bin. You cannot leave out extra waste in other bins, containers, or bags. If you have a lot of garden waste, you can request extra bins when you sign up (up to a maximum of 5).

If you want to cancel your subscription, change your address, or there's a problem with your brown bin, call 01642 726001.

If you do not sign up

If you do not sign up, you'll be responsible for getting rid of your garden waste yourself. You can book an appointment to take it to the Household Waste Recycling Centre, or you can compost it.
