Subscribe to garden waste collections

To get your garden waste collected, you'll now need to subscribe to the garden waste service and pay an annual charge.

The subscription costs £40 per year for one garden waste bin. If you need more than one bin, you'll pay an extra £20 per year for each bin you have.

Subscribe

You can subscribe quickly and easily online.

We recommend that you sign up as soon as possible. If you sign up later in the year, you'll still have to pay £40 but you'll get less collections.

You'll need to sign into your MyMiddlesbrough account to fill in the form. It's quick and easy to create a MyMiddlesbrough account if you do not have one already. If you already have an account, make sure you've added all your personal details to your profile and they're correct before you apply.

If you're struggling to sign up online, you can call 01642 726001.

What happens next?

Once you're subscribed, we'll give you a new brown bin for your garden waste. It's the same size as your current bin. We'll also take your current bin away once we've delivered your new bin.

We'll empty your bin every 2 weeks between April and November. You can see your collection day on your bin calendar. It may be a different day to last year. Find out how to check your bin dates.

We'll only collect the waste in your brown bin. You cannot leave out extra waste in other bins, containers, or bags. If you have a lot of garden waste, you can request extra bins when you sign up (up to a maximum of 5).

If you want to cancel your subscription, change your address, or there's a problem with your brown bin, call 01642 726001.

If you do not sign up

If you do not sign up, we'll empty your existing bin one last time and take it away. This will be in April or May but it may not be on your normal garden waste collection day. We're delivering leaflets to every household with an existing green bin to confirm when we'll take their bin away.

If you still have garden waste after this, you'll be responsible for getting rid of it. You can book an appointment to take your garden waste to the Household Waste Recycling Centre, or you can compost it.
