Home to school transport

Home to school transport

As a parent you're legally responsible for making sure your child attends school. In some cases, we (the council) can offer some pupils travel assistance between home and school. You can find out more on this page.

A copy of the home to school transport policy, home to school transport appeals policy, application forms, frequently asked questions, and other information can be found in the 'Downloads and more information' section below.

Special educational need or disability (SEND) home to school travel support

If your child has a special educational need or disability (SEND) or has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), they may be eligible for travel support to their education setting.

If your child will be getting home to school travel assistance for the first time, our SEND team will speak to an Independent Needs Assessor. We'll then contact you as soon as possible to explain what kind of travel assistance your child will get.

If your child currently gets SEND home to school travel assistance, and this will be continuing from September 2024 onwards, we'll contact you with any updates about their travel assistance during July or August 2024. We'll write to you at the address we currently have on our records.

If you have any questions about your child's SEND travel assistance please get in touch by emailing transport@middlesbrough.gov.uk.
